The security industry has been booming for years and security people have become an integral part of our everyday lives. But what exactly is security that is being demanded? What does it feel like and who provides it? The doorman, the guard, the man in front of the supermarket: security is often associated with stereotypical images of masculinity. Yet it is exactly these masculinities that are in crisis, caught between precarious working conditions, social expectations and James Bond fantasies.

In SECURITY, the team around Hamburg-based director and sound artist Christopher Ramm goes in search of fictions of security, masculinity and control together with men who work in the security industry. Based on sixteen interviews, two security men, a dancer and a performer draw a multi-dimensional picture of "protectors" and their vulnerability. In the stage set of a dystopian car park between monuments of past times and the abstract horror scenarios of an economy on the brink of collapse, the search for a non-toxic performance of security, its construction and contingency, is opened up.
