DER 7. REISPARTEITAG | G2G

"Terror & Spiel – Der 7. Reisparteitag" was the seventh edition of the long-term performance format DER REISPARTEITAG on which the Tagesspiegel once wrote: "Fear is going around that "free scene" could be confused with dilettantes. So, for example, with the group Girl to Guerilla, which celebrates the "REISPARTEITAG" at Ballhaus Ost. A naked performer has "whore" written on his forehead, a very fat man wears a Biene-Maja costume, there are Nazi uniforms, plenty of canned beer, they throw around Bifis and Heiner Müller quotes. Complete madness. Well, if Senator of Culture Müller came to take a look at what this independent scene actually does, which insistently demands more money, and he is pelted with Bifis by naked whores - of course the image suffers."

The 44-hour installation was part of the festival "1918 I 2018 - Was ist Demokratie? - 100 Jahre Räterepublik München" and took place from March 1-3, 2019 at Köşk Munich. More radical and longer than in previous editions, the performance represented an attempt to go beyond any reasonable framework of conservative theater performances and in this way evoke the revolutionary spirit of the Munich soviet republic. No play text, no roles, no preparation, no rehearsals. Only material and improvisation. A stage set designed by Berlin stage designer Gustav Kleinschmitt and realized together with Girl to Guerilla and the time frame of 44 hours formed the only framework of the action. The stage was not finished at any point of the performance and was transformed with each new performative action. Quite quickly a gallery, a border post, a rehearsal stage, a computer lab, dirt, a dump, a basement a ritual circle, an altar emerged. Time also dissolved, as lengthy passages without an audience alternated with one-on-one encounters and parades of up to fifty people. Meanwhile, audience and neighbors became performers, and the performance itself spread out beyond the confines of the gallery into the neighborhood.

The negotiation of the frames and the dramaturgy of the material are essential parts of the format and thus content and form are permanently blended in the performative arena of discourse. Previous episodes of DER REISPARTEITAG have taken place at Funkhaus Grünau, as part of the 100° Festival at Ballhaus Ost, and at the Institute for Theater Studies at the FU Berlin, among others.
